Granddaughter of an Archeologist, daughter of a true bohemian, and forever lover of my late grandmothers French designed home. I am a collector and indefinite mag pie. I have always been in awe of design, architecture, and unique pieces in a home from a young age. My degree is in the applied arts, with an emphasis on design. The juxtaposition of mixing old with new, and in curating specific finds to make a home feel just right; that is what I live for as a stylist.
To know one's true self is like breaking free of any constricting chains. It takes time and experiences to draw from our own lifeline to even start getting to know our true inner child. This applies to how you want to live, what you want your home to feel like, and what you inevitably want your home to reflect about you and its inhabitants.
From the time I was a child, I was dazzled by my late grandmothers crystal chandelier that cascaded down in her living room. It now resides in my entry, and it makes me smile every sing day...it tells a story. I was (and still am) mesmerized by the ancient pottery sitting in a display cabinet, in the sun room of my other grandmothers home. Often times when I would visit my grandmother, as a young girl, she would be painting another coat, of a different color on her kitchen cabinets. Always evolving and never skimping on style, she taught me that hand-washing her authentic kilim rugs, and letting them air dry under the sun made made them just right. I would marvel at the momentos strewn across shelves of ocean shells and various curios from Australia, where my late grandparents once lived. My mother, a true bohemian, has always taught me the value of making something out of nothing. She has a knack for turning any splintered old table, into the perfect potting bench, or using old scraps of patterned textiles, and sewing them into rich beautiful pillows, ready for a spot to plop down and rest. Our experiences and environment shape us. They create our individual needs and desires, and thus or pathway for living.
All of these experiences that have tantalized me through my childhood, paved the way for what sparks me today. Making a house into a home with soul is an art form, and it is an art that I have loved my entire life. I want to share this joy with you, and help make your home tell its own story.
In an era where we can click and scroll, and have a million different images of interiors at our fingertips within minutes, it can be overwhelming. It also can be exhausting; seeing the same thing done time and time again. We are told to buy the trendy items from big box stores, style it in a specific way, and have our homes look like everyone else. But we aren't everyone else! We are all individuals with different stories, and our homes should reflect that. My goal is to help you, so that your home can tell your individual story and reflect the inhabitants that live in the space, the soul within the walls if you will.
Curating allows our individuality to shine, and it will defy any trend, so your space always feels unique and fresh; never tired and trendy.
In order for your home to have depth, one must curate. Take time in adding specific and special items to your space. If you love it, it will work, because it will reflect the true you. Be picky! Choose items that are genuine antiques, and materials that get better with age and time. You must mix the old with the new, and have an evolving sense of self within your home. Just as we evolve as people, our homes need to also. Happy Collecting and styling!
